Machine Learning Exposed workshop

Hands-on Labs

bigdata Big Data & Machine Learning

Room 6

Wednesday from 14:00 til 17:00

In the age of quantum computing, computer chip implants and artificial intelligence, it’s easy to feel left behind. For example, the term "machine learning" is increasingly bandied about in corporate settings and cocktail parties, but what is it, really?

In this session, Katharine Beaumont will explore machine learning topics such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, and deep learning. We'll also survey various machine learning APIs and platforms. We’ll give you an overview of what you can achieve, as well as an intuition on the maths behind machine learning.

To get the most out of this workshop, you will need a laptop with wifi, Java 8 JDK, Ant build tool or Netbeans IDE.

She has given a number of international conference talks on her experiences in the software industry. With a background in law, science, mathematics and more recently machine learning, she (unsurprisingly) loves learning! She enjoys playing with Matlab/Python/Ruby, cycling, walking her dogs and living on a farm.
